Frequently asked questions
- Which sport is best to start with in Lanzarote?
- Surf in Famara and wing foil/windsurf in Costa Teguise are the best options for beginners: certified schools, rental gear and consistent conditions.
- Do I need to bring my own gear?
- Not necessary. All schools rent quality equipment. If you're advanced and have your own kit, better to bring it.
- What insurance do you recommend?
- Travel insurance with sports cover (not basic). For freediving and big-wave surf, check that these sports are explicitly included.
- Are there competitions in Lanzarote?
- Yes: Ironman Lanzarote (May), Pro Windsurf Lanzarote, local freediving and surf championships. Calendar on official websites.
- Can you combine family and sport?
- Perfectly. While one parent surfs, the rest can be at the beach, aquapark or on a tour. Everything within 15–30 minutes.
