Frequently asked questions
- Where do you go skydiving in the Canary Islands?
- The jump takes place over Gran Canaria, with takeoff from El Berriel airfield (San Bartolomé de Tirajana) and landing in Playa del Inglés. During the flight, you'll see the Maspalomas dunes, the south coast and, on clear days, Tenerife's Teide in the background. It is the only place in the Canary Islands where civilian tandem jumps are regularly performed.
- How far in advance do I have to book?
- We need at least 24 hours' notice. Our local partner uses this time to prepare the plane, check equipment, assign an instructor, and coordinate with the weather, ensuring a 100% safe jump. During high season (Easter, summer, Christmas), we recommend booking 5–7 days in advance as slots fill up quickly.
- How much does a tandem skydive cost in Gran Canaria?
- The price is €299 per person and includes a briefing, a flight in a light aircraft up to 3,000m, a tandem jump with a certified instructor, full equipment, and mandatory insurance. If you weigh over 90 kg, there's a €50 surcharge. Photos and video of the jump are an optional extra, paid directly to the partner on the day of the jump.
- What is the jump height, and how long is the freefall?
- You will jump from 3,000 meters (10,000 feet), with a freefall of approximately 30 seconds at over 200 km/h, followed by a 5 to 8-minute parachute flight until landing on the beach. In total, from briefing to landing, the activity lasts about 90 minutes.
- Do I need previous experience for a tandem skydive?
- None. Tandem jumping is designed precisely for people with no experience: you are strapped to a professional instructor (with thousands of jumps under their belt) who controls the exit, freefall, parachute opening, and landing. You just have to enjoy the view and the adrenaline.
- What are the age and physical requirements?
- Must be of legal age (18 years), or between 16–17 with signed parental consent. Maximum weight 100 kg (subject to instructor's evaluation). You should not have serious heart problems, uncontrolled hypertension, epilepsy, recent back/neck injuries, or be pregnant. If you have medical concerns, consult your doctor before booking.
- What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the jump?
- The jump is 100% dependent on weather conditions (wind, visibility, low clouds). If the partner deems it unsafe to jump, we will reschedule your activity free of charge for another day that suits you, or we will issue a full refund. Jumps are never performed if there are any safety concerns — the weather always takes precedence.
- What's the best time of year to skydive in Gran Canaria?
- You can jump all year round — Gran Canaria has one of the best climates in Europe. The most stable months are May–October. In winter (December–February), there are also many perfect days, but there can be more cancellations due to wind or low clouds. Mornings usually have calmer conditions than afternoons.
- Can the jump be video recorded or photographed?
- Yes. The partner offers a video + photo package that is booked directly on the day of the jump (approx. €100–120). A second instructor with a camera jumps with you and records everything from exiting the plane to landing. It's a worthwhile memory — personal phones or cameras cannot be used during the jump for safety reasons.
- How do I get to the meeting point, and is there parking?
- The exact meeting point (El Berriel airfield, near Playa del Inglés) will be confirmed by email upon booking. Free parking is available. From Las Palmas, it's about a 45-minute drive via the GC-1; from Maspalomas/Playa del Inglés, 10 minutes. You can also arrive by taxi or Bolt. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the scheduled time for the briefing.
- What should I wear and how should I dress?
- Comfortable sportswear (long or short trousers depending on temperature, t-shirt), closed tied shoes (no flip-flops or sandals), sunglasses, and sunscreen. All technical equipment (suit, harness, jump goggles, helmet, parachute) is provided by the partner. Avoid jewelry, large watches, or piercings that could get caught.
- Can I gift a parachute jump?
- Yes — it's one of our most requested gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, stag/hen parties, and retirements. We can issue a gift voucher valid for 12 months that the recipient can redeem when it suits them. Contact us via WhatsApp to arrange it.
- How do I pay, and what methods do you accept?
- Payment is made online when booking on benty.es with a card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, or Bizum. The booking is instantly confirmed, and you'll receive an email + WhatsApp with all the details about the meeting point and instructor.
- Is a tandem skydive safe?
- Yes. Tandem jumping is the safest form of skydiving: you have two parachutes (main and reserve), an automatic opening device (AAD) that opens the reserve if the instructor doesn't, and you are strapped to a professional, licensed instructor with thousands of jumps. The partner we work with complies with all AESA (State Air Safety Agency) and FAI regulations.
- Can I do it if I'm on vacation in Lanzarote or Fuerteventura?
- Yes. Many of our clients come from Lanzarote or Fuerteventura as a day trip. You just need to combine the jump with an inter-island flight (Binter, ~30 min) or a ferry (Fred. Olsen / Naviera Armas). Book the jump for the afternoon to allow for delays in your flight.
